Can you dye wet hair with permanent hair dye?

It is possible & even right to dye your wet hair. But dyeing them with permanent hair dye will not be suitable. This is because the permanent hair dye does not work on damp hair & the reason behind this is the chemical composition of permanent dye.

Hydrogen peroxide and ammonia are ingredients in permanent hair dyes. However, neither of these ingredients works on wet hair. Instead, the chemicals work by raising the hair’s cuticle so that the color pigment penetrates the shafts. Additionally, the chemicals also remove the natural oils produced by the scalp during this process.

If you wash your hair right before coloring, you are stripping the natural oils, making the hair even more vulnerable to damage. In addition, if you apply permanent hair dye to wet hair, the moisture will dilute the chemicals and prevents the color from absorbing properly in the hair.

This all will result in uneven application & hair prone to damage.
