What can I use instead of nail glue?

Here are the alternatives to nail glue to attach your artificial nails:

1) Nail Tabs or Double Side Tape

To apply artificial nails or Press On Nails to your nails, use Nail Tabs, a special double-sided tape. Various sizes are available to accommodate a wide range of nail lengths. They are softer on your nails and maybe reapplied to your nails. However, nail tabs’ primary shortcoming is their lack of sturdiness and longevity as compared to nail glue.

2) Gel Nail Polish

You can even use gel nail polish to stick your artificial nails instead of using nail glue. The gel nail polish will work as a great adhesive to stick your fake nails & even help the nails stay for a long time. Here is the video tutorial to know how to use gel nails polish as an adhesive to apply fake nails:

3) Using base coat & white glue

A base coat is a layer of nail polish that acts as a barrier between the lacquer and the nail bed. As a result, the glue’s capacity to hold the false nail in place is protected from the natural oils produced by your fingernails. You can use a base coat & then normal glue to hold onto fake nails.

You just need to apply the fake glue when the base coat is not dried. Then put on the fake nails & wait for some time to get beautiful long nails.

4) 5-second glue

A powerful chemical ingredient in Crazy Glue means that you must apply it carefully since too much might harm the nail and the nail bed. Additional glue hardens as it dries, resulting in lumpy skin patches.

5) DIY Nail Glue

You can even make DIY nail glue at home & it will work as perfect as normal nail glue to stick your fake nails to your natural nails. Moreover, DIY nail glue will also be skin-friendly & no issue of allergies with it.

How to make homemade nail glue?

Here is the step-by-step guide on how to make homemade nail glue & even apply it.

The things required-

Steps-

  • Pour PVA glue into a container, and it fills about half of the container with glue.
  • Add half a bottle of clear nail polish now. Because the clear polish will help the glue stick to your nails.
  • Cut off the end of a Q-tip. Put glue and clear nail polish on the end that doesn’t have any cotton.
  • Our acrylic nails are now ready. We need to put them on top of the glue.
  • When you put glue on your real nail, hold your fake fingernail down over the glue for at least a minute so that the glue can set.
  • It almost takes 5 to 10 minutes for it to harden all the way.
  • Voila! You have your fake nails applied with DIY home glue.

Can I use eyelash glue instead of nail glue?

If you’re running low on nail glue or don’t want to use nail glue, you may also use eyelash adhesive. You can purchase the same thing as “nail glue” for a fraction of the price if you buy it as a hardware item rather than a cosmetic one.

But there is one problem with using eyelash glue. The eyelash glue has less adhesive power than nail glue, as you wash your face & eyelashes at the end of the day. So eyelash glue may not stay for a longer time, but it will definitely work as a nail glue alternative.

Can I use super glue for fake nails?

Press-on Nails and Fake Nails should never be glued using Super Glue. Using Super Glue on your body is not recommended since it might cause harm to your natural nails. Moreover, it will be very hard to remove super glue.

Super Glue has a label advising against using it on your skin or body because of this. So never use super glue for fake nails.

What can I use instead of nail glue for acrylic nails?

You can use many alternatives for acrylic and fake nails like nail tabs, gel nail polish, 5-second Glue, and DIY nail glue. All these alternatives will work to attach your fake nails to your natural nails. However, the longevity of all these alternatives is different.

Choose the one which is suitable for your skin & requirements.

Can you use Elmer’s Glue for fake nails?

You may use school glue or PVA white/glue Elmer’s, and it will work perfectly. As a substitute for liquid latex, if you don’t have any or are searching for a less expensive option, you may just apply Elmer’s Glue, or school glue, to your nails.

Moreover, it will be a great alternative to nail glue, which can cause allergy or skin problems.

Can you use gorilla glue on nails?

Gorilla glue shouldn’t be used on nails since it expands as it dries and comes into touch with water. It may also create light bubbles and come into contact with what you are touching with your hands. Additionally, it’s almost tough to get rid of. So never think of using it on nails.
