Thomas Tuchel Warning To Chelsea Team

Coach Thomas Tuchel has told his team to forget about Real Madrid for now and focus on their next Premier League game.

Real Madrid won the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final 3-1 at Stamford Bridge.

The second leg will be held in Madrid on Tuesday, April 12.

Chelsea lost to Real for the second time in five days after losing 4-1 to Brentford last weekend.

"It is a heavy loss," Tuchel told BT Sport after the loss. It was one of our worst first halves at Stamford Bridge. Together, we were far from enough.

We can't complain about the first half because we didn't pass well, didn't attack well, and didn't possess the ball well enough to win.

"We had 16 second-half shots." You can always come back and win, but after 45 minutes it gets harder and harder.

"No, we can't go to Madrid." We must go to Southampton and process this. We'll lose at Southampton and then get thrashed at the Bernabeu if we keep doing this."

Chelsea started as favourites to win the match and advance to the second leg on Wednesday.

Real had never beaten the Blues in five previous meetings.

Tuchel is right to be worried about Chelsea's trip to Southampton on Saturday.

If Chelsea allow this blip to turn into a prolonged slump, they risk missing out on the Champions League next season.
