Sofía Jirau as Victoria's Secret's First Model
Sofa Jirau is the first Victoria's Secret model with Down syndrome.
The 24-year-old Puerto Rican model announced her collaboration with the fashion business and 17 other ladies on social media.
Jiaru complimented VS for viewing her as a model "without limits" beside a black and white photo of herself donning a VS bra.
"I wished for it, worked for it, and now it's a reality. Now I can reveal my major secret "Jirau pent. "I am VS's first Down syndrome model!"
"Thank you Victoria's Secret for including me in the inclusive Love Cloud Collection campaign," she said. "No bounds inside or out."
It's a key milestone in the brand's evolution, says Ral Martinez, creative director of Victoria Secret.
It's part of the new Victoria's Secret standard we're setting.
Jiaru began her modelling career in Puerto Rico in 2019 before moving to New York Fashion Week in 2020. She told them that this was only the start.
At the time, she told PEOPLE, "I used to look in the mirror and say, 'I'm going to be a model and a businesswoman'."
She got to model for Marisa Santiago at her NYFW runway show.
"I was born for this," she subsequently told her Instagram followers.
Jirau is living her businesswoman aspirations with her own label, Alavett. "I adore it" is how Jirau spelled the brand's name.
PEOPLE This is her "shout of delight," and she sells everything from tees to wallets to phone cases with her name and doodle on it.
