Robert Durst, Murderer & Tycoon Died!

Former fugitive Robert Durst, who was found guilty of the murder of his closest friend last year and murders of others around him, has died.

He was 78 years old and serving a life sentence for the murder of his close friend Susan Berman in a manner similar to the death penalty.

San Joaquin General Hospital is where he passed away.

He had been able to avoid justice for the killings of his first wife and an elderly Texas neighbour until his capture in 2015 in the Berman murder.

He confessed to mutilating and disposing of his neighbor's corpse in Galveston Bay after it was dismembered.

After initially denying any involvement in Berman's death, Durst was found guilty of her murder two decades ago and sentenced to life in prison last year.

Durst, the oldest son of real estate mogul Seymour Durst, was born on April 12, 1943, in Scarsdale, New York, and reared in the affluent New York City neighbourhood.

Black's dismembered body parts were recovered floating in Galveston Bay in a trash bag in October 2001.

In November 2003, Durst was acquitted of murdering Black after claiming self-defense.

HBO aired a documentary on Durst that Jarecki and Marc Smerling co-directed in 2015.

Durst was put on a ventilator the same week he was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Berman.

His fortune was estimated at more than $100 million upon his death.
