The Phoenix Suns beat the New Orleans Pelicans on Friday night in New Orleans, 114-111 to take a 2-1 series lead in the first-round NBA playoffs series.

The Suns were without Devin Booker, who is out with an injured hamstring suffered in Game 2.

Chris Paul led the Suns to the victory with a big fourth quarter. He had 19 points in the fourth quarter and 28 points in the game.

Deandre Ayton had 28 points for the Suns and JaVale McGee added 15 points off the bench.

The Pelicans were led by Brandon Ingram's 34 points and CJ McCollum's 30 points.

Game 4 of the series is on Sunday in New Orleans.

"We knew we were down our MVP in Book and we all had to step up," Paul told ESPN after the game.

The Suns shot 44-for-87 from the field. The Pelicans were 38-for-79.

Phoenix went just 4-for-26 from 3 in the game.

Suns point guard Chris Paul has scored the Suns' last eight points and Phoenix has a 98-5 lead over the Pelicans with 3:28 remaining in the game.

Paul has 22 points in the game on 9-for-15 shooting. He has 13 assists and has not turned the ball over.
