Liverpool heaped the pressure on the leaders with a 6-0 thrashing of Leeds United.

With 12 games left, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both scored twice, while Virgil Van Dijk and Joel Matip also scored.

Marcelo Bielsa's team are now just three points above the relegation zone, having played two more games than 18th-placed Burnley.

Liverpool led from the start, with Salah scoring from the penalty spot after 15 minutes.

After a half-hour run by Joel Matip, Salah's second penalty put the game beyond their opponents.

Just as the visitors appeared to be closing the floodgates, Mane scored after a beautiful Liverpool play.

Van Dijk scored his second goal on the 90th minute, powering home a header with the last action of the game.

The result reduces the table's lead to three points, with the two heavyweights due to clash at the Etihad.

It also prepares the Reds for Sunday's League Cup final.

Bielsa's men are still winless in five games, putting them in danger of sliding into the bottom three.

Their next outing is against Spurs on Saturday.
