Lakers sit LeBron James against Warriors

LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Russell Westbrook will all miss the Warriors' final regular-season game on Thursday.

The Lakers (31-48) have nothing left to aim for after being eliminated from playoff contention on Tuesday night.

“LeBron's ankle is still not ready,” said coach Frank Vogel. He wouldn't play if we weren't out. Anthony has plantar fasciitis and is limping around.

So he's out tonight and tomorrow. He has a shoulder issue that is slowing him down, so we will be taking him out tonight.”

Carmelo Anthony missed Thursday's game due to a “stomach bug” he had against New Orleans.

Vogel said none of them are out for Friday's game against Oklahoma City and Sunday's game against Denver.

“We'll see how those guys feel tomorrow and make that call,” he said. “We recognise it is Fan Appreciation Day and want to thank our fans.”

James has missed three straight games and five in a row since spraining his ankle on March 27.

Davis has played in three games after missing 18 in a row, but he has been bothered by foot pain.

Westbrook has missed only one of the Lakers' previous 79 games, the night before the trade deadline in February.

In his first season in Los Angeles, he averaged 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.1 assists while shooting 44.4 percent from the field.

Lakers GM Rob Pelinka called it “an aggressive move that we felt bettered our chances of winning the 18th title”.
