In the ten months since losing his undisputed championship bout at 140 pounds to Josh Taylor, former unified champion Jose Ramirez has come a long way.

Ramirez (26-1, 17 KOs), who was dropped twice in a tight decision loss last May, believes he has worked out how to refuel for another shot at a world title.

Luckily for boxing fans, the proud native of California's Central Valley doesn't need a warm-up fight.

With wins over Amir Imam, Antonio Orozco, Jose Zepeda, Maurice Hooker, and Viktor Postol, Ramirez holds the division's finest resume after Taylor.

"I learnt the most from Josh Taylor is that the only person who can defeat me is myself," Ramirez remarked.

"I feel defeated. He didn't outfight me. I gave up due to mental and physical exhaustion. I've accepted and want to achieve the titles "he says.

The goal of regaining title contention is not made any easier by the presence of Puerto Rican southpaw Pedraza, fittingly nicknamed "Sniper."

"I'm used to it now," Pedraza added. "This happens in boxing. I just believe in my skills and the hard effort I put in."
