Not many athletes can stand out among the world's best, but Memphis Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant did just that in the first half of Sunday's NBA All-Star Game.
Morant threw down two insane dunks in his first All-Star appearance, showcasing his 6-3 vertical leap and creativity.
Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks lobbed the first. It took Morant a few steps to get to the rim and throw down a reverse jam with his head almost at the rim.
Late in the second quarter, Young found Morant again, this time from half-court.
Morant decided a full 360 in mid-air wasn't good enough for one of the night's most jaw-dropping moments.
The dunks were notable after the previous night's disastrous Slam Dunk Contest, in which the contestants combined to shoot 28% (7 for 25) on dunk attempts.
It was the first NBA dunk contest without a perfect score since 2001, and it was quickly dubbed the "worst dunk contest ever" on Twitter, with a corresponding hashtag.
Morant's two highlight dunks in the first half quickly made us forget about Saturday's disappointment.
Sadly, Team Durant lost 163-160 to Team LeBron on Sunday night. During a breakout season,
Morant leads the Grizzlies to a 41-19 record and the No. 3 kernel in the Western Conference with 26.8 points, 6.9 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game.
