Season 5 of Snowfall premieres on February 23, continuing Franklin Saint's adventure into the world of crack cocaine distribution.

With an accurate representation of 1980s Los Angeles and a compelling performance from Damson Idris as Saint, Snowfall has enjoyed incredible success in its nearly five-year run.

Before diving into the neon-lit City of Angels, here's everything you need to know about Season 5.

Snowfall is a 2017 Netflix original series that follows Franklin Saint, a young man struggling to make ends meet in the turbulent landscape of south-central Los Angeles.

Saint ends up in LA's drug underworld, steadily rising through the ranks and learning more about the risks of such a career choice.

Other characters in the series include cranky CIA operative Teddy McDonald and disgraced luchador Gustavo "El Oso" Zapata.

The above synopsis is obviously merely the tip of the iceberg for a show with characters that alter greatly over numerous seasons, but it should give newbies an idea of how the series begins.

Snowfall is an FX production, thus cable is the earliest way to see it.

Most likely, it's because FX isn't making an exclusive foray into the world of streaming.

Those who prefer to stream need not wait long. Snowfall episodes will be available on Hulu the day after cable airs.

It's also worth mentioning that only a basic Hulu membership is required to watch the series.

Season 5 premieres on FX on February 23 at 10 p.m.

Then every Wednesday until the season finale on April 20th, new episodes will be broadcast.

As previously stated, Hulu subscribers would have to wait until the following Thursday to watch the show.
