Chelsea to win
Club World Cup

Chelsea won the
Club World Cup after a 2-1 extra-time win over Palmeiras.

The Blues won the
Club World Cup a decade after their only previous final, won by another Brazilian team, Corinthians, the only non-European club to win it in the last 14 years.

Palmeiras have
never won the Intercontinental Cup, having lost to Manchester United in 1999.

The match between the Champions League holders and the Copa Libertadores winners drew nearly 33,000 fans to the Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

After missing
most of the tournament due to a positive Covid-19 test, Thomas Tuchel was on the touchline for Chelsea.

The first few minutes
were fairly even, but as the half wore on, the Premier League club grew in dominance, and the score remained 0-0.

Nine minutes into
the second half, Callum Hudson-Odoi crossed for Romelu Lukaku, who outjumped Luan and beat Weverton to give Chelsea the lead.

Raphael Veiga scored a penalty after a Thiago Silva handball in the 63rd minute to bring Sao Paulo level.

The game was
tied after regulation and stoppage time, forcing extra time.
